About Best Appliances
We repair two appliances. That is not a limitation we are apologising for — it is the entire strategy, and it is why our technicians diagnose faster, carry the right parts, and stand behind the work.
A repair business built around focus
Most appliance repair companies advertise everything. Fridges, washing machines, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, tumble dryers, microwaves — the full list, on every van. It looks reassuring and it is mostly a marketing decision, because no technician can be genuinely expert across that spread, and what happens in practice is that the unfamiliar jobs get sub-contracted or learned on the customer's appliance.
We took the opposite decision. Best Appliances repairs fridges and washing machines, and nothing else. Our technicians see the same compressors, relays, thermostats, drums, bearings and control boards every working day, and that repetition is what builds real diagnostic speed. It is also what makes our vans useful: when you know what fails, you can stock the parts that fail, and most repairs get finished on the first visit rather than the third.
What we are trying to be good at
Honestly, most of it is not technical. The technical part matters, but customers rarely have the means to judge it. What they can judge is whether we turned up when we said, whether we explained the fault in language that made sense, whether the price we quoted was the price they paid, and whether the appliance was still working a month later.
So those are the things we build around. A real appointment window instead of a day. A diagnosis before a quote, and a quote before a spanner. A straight answer when an appliance is not worth repairing — even though that answer costs us the job. And a technician who runs the machine through a full cycle before packing up, because a repair that only works empty is not a repair.
The repair-or-replace conversation
We have talked a great many people out of repairs. A twelve-year-old budget washing machine needing R4,000 of bearings. A fridge with a leak buried in a sealed system that cannot be reached. In both cases the customer arrived expecting to spend money and left having spent only the call-out, which is not a business model that looks clever on a spreadsheet.
It works anyway, for the obvious reason: those are the people who call us again, and who give our number to their neighbours. Our rule of thumb is simple — if a repair costs more than half the price of an equivalent new appliance, replacing usually wins, and we will show you both numbers rather than only the one that suits us.
Where we work
We cover Gauteng, with technicians dispatched across Johannesburg, Pretoria and the East Rand. Our strongest areas include Kempton Park, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Sandton, Midrand, Centurion, Boksburg, Benoni, Germiston and Randburg — see all areas we serve.
What you can expect from us, every time
These are not aspirations. They are the operating rules, and if we fail one of them we would rather hear about it.
We arrive when we said
A real time window, and a phone call if we are running late. Your morning is not ours to waste.
We quote before we work
In writing. Parts, labour, total. Nothing is dismantled until you have approved a number.
We tell you when not to repair
Even though it costs us the job. If the maths does not work, you will hear it from us plainly.
We fix it properly
Correct parts, correct procedure, and the appliance run under load before we leave.
We guarantee the work
Workmanship guaranteed, parts under warranty. If the same fault returns, we come back.
We explain what happened
In plain language, without jargon and without theatre. You should understand what failed and why.

Put us to work
Second opinions welcome. Tell us what the appliance is doing and what you have already been told, and we will diagnose it fresh.
- Fridges, freezers and washing machines only — and that is the point
- Honest repair-or-replace advice, even when it costs us the job
- Guaranteed workmanship on every repair
Give us the appliance nobody else could fix.
Second opinions welcome. We will diagnose it fresh rather than assuming the last person got it right.
