Appliance Repair Costs in South Africa — Honest Ranges, Not Sales Talk
We publish what repairs actually cost because the alternative — vague promises and a number revealed at your kitchen door — is how this trade earned its reputation. These are estimates to help you decide whether a repair is worth pursuing at all.
What a fridge repair really costs
Most fridge repairs land between R750 and R2,900. Compressor work sits higher. These guides tell you which category your fault falls into.

R2,500 – R6,300. But first: why the relay is very often the real culprit, at a fraction of the price.

R1,100 – R2,500 including the leak repair. Why a top-up without a leak repair is money thrown away.

A blocked filter is R650 – R1,000. A pump you have burnt out by running cycles against it costs double.

The call-out is quoted upfront
You are told the fee before we book, not at your door. It covers travel and a full diagnosis. If you decide not to proceed with the repair, that is all you pay.
The repair is quoted in writing
Parts, labour, total. Before anything is dismantled. There is no running tab and no revised figure once the appliance is in pieces.
No fix, no repair fee
If we cannot repair the appliance, you do not pay for a repair. You pay the call-out for the diagnosis, and we tell you honestly what your options are.
Pricing questions
How we quote, what you pay, and what happens if you decline.
Why do you publish price ranges instead of fixed prices?
Because fixed prices for appliance repair are, with very few exceptions, a marketing device rather than a promise. The same symptom — "my fridge is not cooling" — can be a R750 relay or a R5,800 compressor, and any company advertising a single flat figure is either quoting the cheapest possible outcome to get in the door, or padding the number to cover the worst case. Ranges are honest. A firm figure comes after we have tested the appliance.
Is the call-out fee refundable if I go ahead with the repair?
It is absorbed into the repair rather than charged twice. The call-out covers the technician's travel and the diagnostic work, and if you approve the repair that diagnosis becomes part of the job. If you decide not to proceed, the call-out is the only thing you pay and there is no obligation to continue.
What if the repair turns out to cost more than the estimate?
Then you hear about it before anything happens, not afterwards. Our written quote is the price — we do not start a repair at one figure and present you with another. On the rare occasions where a second fault is uncovered once an appliance is open, we stop, explain it, and give you a revised quote to approve or decline.
Do you charge more for urgent or same-day work?
No. Same-day is how we prefer to work rather than a premium service, and cooling failures get prioritised because food is on a clock — not because they are billed differently. The call-out fee and the repair pricing are the same whether we reach you today or on Thursday.
