AEG Appliance Repairs in Gauteng
ÖKOMix, ProSense and premium German laundry built for the long run
Repairing AEG appliances — what actually matters
AEG sits firmly in the premium bracket, and the appliances behave accordingly: quiet, efficient, and engineered with a longer service life in mind than the market average. AEG washing machines in particular are worth taking seriously as repair candidates well into their second decade, and the inverter motors in the higher ranges have very little to go wrong mechanically.
Where AEG owners run into difficulty is parts and process. These are not appliances to be attacked with a generic spare and optimism — the electronics expect correct components and the dismantling sequences are specific. Done properly, an AEG repair returns an appliance that will keep going for years. Done badly, it creates a second fault on top of the first.
Why AEG owners call us
- AEG machines reward correct-specification parts. We do not fit generic substitutes into premium electronics.
- An AEG is usually worth repairing further into its life than a budget machine — we will show you why on site.
- Inverter-motor diagnosis needs testing, not guesswork. We test the control circuit before quoting anything.
AEG models we repair
AEG 6000, 7000, 8000 and 9000 series washing machines including ÖKOMix, ProSense and ProSteam models, plus AEG integrated and freestanding fridges and fridge-freezers.
If your particular AEG is missing from that list, it almost certainly does not matter. Send the model number through and we will tell you immediately whether we can repair it — and if we cannot, we will say so rather than take the booking.
Both services, one AEG specialist
We bring one process to every AEG we touch: diagnose it properly, price it in writing, fix it once. Read more about our fridge repairs and washing machine repairs, or check the numbers before booking.
Common AEG faults we repair
These are the failures that come up repeatedly on AEG appliances in South African homes — and the ones our technicians are stocked for.
AEG washer not spinning
Door interlock, motor control board or the tachometer on inverter models. There are no carbon brushes to blame on the newer ranges.
Error code on the display
AEG codes are precise and map to specific sensors and circuits. Send us the code and the model number for an accurate pre-diagnosis.
Bearing or drum noise
Worth repairing on an AEG — the appliance around the bearing typically has substantial life remaining.
Not draining or pump running constantly
Drain pump, blocked filter, or a pressure sensor incorrectly reporting water in the tub.
AEG fridge not cooling
Sensor, fan or defrost element. As with the other German brands, the compressor is rarely the first component to fail.
Detergent not dispensing properly
ÖKOMix and dispenser system blockages. A cleaning and valve job rather than a mechanical failure.

AEG repair FAQs
What AEG owners ask us most before booking a repair.
Is an AEG washing machine worth repairing?
Usually, yes. AEG builds for a long service life, so a machine that develops a fault at eight or ten years old often has plenty of use left in it, and a well-executed repair returns it to full service. The honest test is the same as always: what the repair costs, against what an equivalent new machine costs. On AEG, that comparison tends to favour repairing.
Why is my AEG machine not spinning?
On the newer inverter-motor ranges there are no carbon brushes to wear out, so the likely causes are the door interlock (the machine will not spin without a confirmed door lock), the tachometer that reports motor speed, or the motor control board. An unbalanced load will also cause the machine to abandon a spin — we always eliminate the simple explanations first.
Do you use genuine AEG parts?
We fit parts to correct AEG specification. Premium appliance electronics are considerably less tolerant of generic components than budget machines, and an incorrect part can throw persistent errors or fail early. Where a genuine part needs to be ordered we will tell you the cost and the lead time before you approve anything.
