Frequently asked

Everything customers ask us

If your question is not here, phone or WhatsApp us — we would rather answer it before you book than after.

How much does an appliance repair cost?

It depends entirely on what has failed. Most fridge repairs land between R750 and R2,900 and most washing machine repairs between R750 and R4,000 with compressor and bearing work sitting at the top of those ranges. We publish detailed cost guides for every common fault so that you can see roughly where your problem sits before you call. A firm price comes after the on-site diagnosis.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Yes, and you are told the amount before we book rather than at your door. It covers the technician's travel and a full diagnosis of the appliance. If you decide not to proceed with the repair, that is all you pay. If you do go ahead, the diagnosis is absorbed into the repair cost.

Can you give me a price over the phone?

We can give you an honest range, and we are happy to. What we will not do is give you a firm quote for an appliance nobody has tested — the same symptom can have a R750 cause or a R5,800 one, and any company that quotes a fixed price sight-unseen is either lowballing to get through your door or padding the figure to cover themselves.

How quickly can you come out?

Same-day is realistic across most of Gauteng if you call in the morning, and we prioritise fridges that have stopped cooling because food loss starts immediately. Where same-day is not possible, we will tell you honestly at the time of booking rather than leaving you waiting on a vague promise.

What appliances do you repair?

Fridges, freezers and washing machines — including front loaders, top loaders and washer-dryer combinations. We deliberately do not repair stoves, ovens, dishwashers, tumble dryers or microwaves. Focusing on two appliance categories is what allows our technicians to build genuine expertise and carry the right spares.

Do you repair all brands?

We work on every major brand sold in South Africa — Samsung, LG, Defy, Bosch, Hisense, Whirlpool, Siemens, AEG, Smeg, Miele, Electrolux, Kelvinator, KIC and others. See our brand pages for the faults specific to each.

Do you guarantee your repairs?

Yes. Workmanship is guaranteed and the parts we fit carry their own warranty. If the fault we repaired returns within the guarantee period, we come back. Ask your technician to confirm the exact terms applying to your repair before you approve the quote.

What if you cannot fix my appliance?

Then you do not pay for a repair. You pay the call-out fee for the diagnosis, we explain plainly what has failed and why it cannot be economically repaired, and we are happy to advise on replacement. We would far rather do that than take money for a repair we do not believe in.

Do you repair appliances still under warranty?

If the appliance is inside its manufacturer warranty, speak to the manufacturer or the retailer first — an independent repair can void that cover and there is no sense paying for something you are entitled to at no charge. We will tell you this rather than take the booking. Once the warranty has lapsed, come back to us.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone over eighteen needs to be present to give the technician access, approve the written quote and confirm at the end that the appliance is working. It does not have to be you, but it does need to be someone authorised to approve the cost.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, EFT and card. Payment is due on completion, once you have seen the appliance working. Ask the technician about card facilities when you book if that is how you intend to pay.

Can you tell me what an error code means?

Very often, yes — and frequently over the phone at no charge. Samsung, LG, Bosch, Defy and the others all use their own code systems, and most point at a specific circuit or sensor. WhatsApp us the code together with your model number and we will tell you what it is reporting and whether it is something you can clear yourself.

My appliance is very old. Is it worth repairing?

Sometimes, and it depends on the brand and the fault. Older Kelvinator and Defy refrigeration is mechanically simple with cheap parts, and often well worth fixing. A twelve-year-old budget washing machine needing bearings usually is not. Our rule of thumb is that if the repair costs more than half the price of an equivalent new appliance, replacing wins — and we will show you both numbers.

Are you open on weekends?

Yes — we are open seven days a week, 07:00 to 20:00, Saturdays and Sundays included. That is deliberate: fridges do not fail politely on a Tuesday morning, and a warm fridge on a Sunday afternoon is losing you food by the hour. Call us and you will get a technician, not an answering machine telling you to try again on Monday.
